I myself am not a big fan of the whole online dating thing.  From the mail I get I can see that a ton of you are.  As a relative noob to this part of the dating machine wanted to know the answer to two questions.  How many flippin sites are out there?  How many focus on dating vs. finding a mate?

Just curious.  Here is what I found out.

I was just looking for dating sites, not swappin' not rentals, none of that stuff.

Pure play dating sites: Right at 1000.

Pure play find a mate sites:  3. 

That led me to one more question.  Well really two but I could not care less about the answer to the second one.

What three sites of the 1000 are trying to help you focus on finding a mate instead of a date?

The last two are owned by the same people.  They are the ones that put out the "Rejected by eHarmony" ads.
